Application Intelligence and Control for Healthcare

November 4, 2016

Hospitals of the future will increasingly rely on intelligence from real-time healthcare applications and connected devices to improve workflow, safety, and costs. Gartner analyst, Barry Runyon, in the August 2014 report, Situational Awareness Is at the Heart of the Real-Time Healthcare System, says “Situational awareness is the engine behind various ‘hospital of the future,’ ‘digital hospital’ and ‘smart patient room’ initiatives. It is at the heart of the real-time healthcare system. Situational awareness involves: (1) gathering information; (2) understanding that information in context; and (3) making short-term projections based on the current state. Healthcare Delivery Organizations are real-time healthcare systems to the extent that they have mastered situational awareness.”

Only through providing a solid networking infrastructure that includes end-to-end and application and device intelligence reliable connectivity can hospitals become more cost-efficient and improve patient safety. This infrastructure will play a leading role in enhancing the institution’s ability to deliver, innovative healthcare that will increase patient satisfaction and improve situational awareness caregivers in providing efficient and timely medical services.

Using intelligence from network-based analytics IT can optimize application service delivery and improve overall visibility. From a single window, IT gains insight into: client and device performance, on premise and cloud based applications, subscription licensing, and overall system workflow.
