Kean University Makes the Grade with ExtremeWireless

June 7, 2017

Kean University, New Jersey’s third-largest public university with over 15,000 students, prides itself on its commitment to student success, but couldn’t meet that need with its centrally-controlled legacy network. To eliminate bottlenecks and provide the best possible Wi-Fi experience for end users, Kean University searched for a new wireless network. Kean University partnered with Extreme Networks to deploy the ERS and VSP switches, Fabric Connect, and the wireless LAN 9100 series access points. The new network is scalable to meet the university’s future needs, offers application control to help manage bandwidth, and was priced competitively.

Additional benefits of the new network solution include:

  • Reduced time spent on installing new devices on the network
  • Improved network security
  • Maintenance and upgrades do not impact day to day operations
  • Extreme Fabric Connect's shortest path bridging makes it easy to add devices to the network

Technology Needs

  • Eliminate network bottlenecks
  • Increased network bandwidth
  • Dynamic, auto-configuring network
  • Wired/wireless infrastructure
