On July 23, 2015, the FCC released a landmark update to the E-rate program with the 7th Report and Order. This infusion of funding available for schools and libraries will help them reach important digital learning goals. This means connecting students to resources in STEM areas that are necessary for preparing them to compete in the global economy. Mobile learning and the device explosion has left many schools behind the curve and the E-rate program is the only education technology funding source in the US with the money behind the message to move our classrooms into the 21st century.
The commitment of $1 billion per year dedicated to internal connections and Wi-Fi connections into the classroom is a win-win for students, schools and service providers. This program has been an overwhelming success since its inception 17 years ago and this evolution only serves as the critical next step. The program highlights in this report are focused on the impact to service providers and how you are poised to help schools connect to the future.
