Key issues driving technology adoption in Education

October 15, 2013 Extreme Marketing Team

The education market place, whether primary and secondary schools, further education colleges, or, higher education universities, has long been an important sector for Enterasys within the European market.  During the last 12 months we have been intensifying our efforts and proving additional focus on this key vertical market.

As a consequence, this week we announced significant growth across the EMEA region and worldwide.  For example, in the UK we have seen an increase of 44% in overall revenues for the education market during the last financial year ending in September.  If we are more specific and look at just Wireless LANs then the increase is even larger at around 56%.

Education is a very fast moving market that tends to be ahead of the curve when it comes to technology adoption. Schools and universities have been at the vanguard of the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and mobility trend, dealing with huge influxes of new devices onto their networks. Addressing student safeguarding concerns is a key requirement for education environments across EMEA and Enterasys solutions such as Mobile IAM, enable secure, highly managed environments with deep levels of infrastructure visibility.  By working with Enterasys and our partners, schools and colleges have been able to capitalize on the benefits of this technology phenomenon.

We have seen success across the continent from Koc University in Turkey to The Grammar School of Leeds in the UK and The European School in Luxembourg.  One great example is the Instituto Politécnico de Santarém in Portugal who have been at the forefront of the BYOD trend, needing to upgrade their IT environment to cater for an enormous increase in mobile devices on the network, whether it’s smart phones, tablets or laptops brought into classrooms.

In the following video I provide some additional information on our success in the Education market and look forward to sharing more details in the near future.
